When we talk about efficiency, we might be talking about time efficiency or space efficiency.

When we improve the efficiency of a program, we might be able to improve its efficiency with respect to both time and space.

In some programs, there may be some kind of tradeoff between time and space that keeps us from improving one without degrading the other. We must then seek an acceptable compromise between time and space efficiency.
